A Weekend to Remember: Theatre Break in Manchester with Sport Trek
A Weekend to Remember: Theatre Break in Manchester with Sport Trek
We were looking for something to do in the UK for a quick weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We took a delightful break to Manchester, organized by Sport Trek, to catch the lively musical “I Should Be So Lucky.” Our accommodation was the fabulous 4-star Midland Hotel, and let me tell you, it was a perfect choice for a comfortable and stylish stay.
Upon arrival, we were amazed by the sheer size of our room. It could effortlessly accommodate five people, making it feel like we were in our little luxury suite! The beds were incredibly spacious and plush, providing a cosy retreat after a day of exploration.
On our first night, we decided to dine at the hotel. The bar menu offered a tempting selection, although I found a few items a bit pricey. However, after a long day of travel, indulging right where we were felt justified. The convenience of dining on-site allowed us to relax and recharge for our exciting evening.
The Midland Hotel is ideally located just a short stroll from Chinatown, making it an excellent base for anyone wanting to explore Manchester’s vibrant culture. The hustle and bustle of the city center was just around the corner, allowing us to enjoy everything from street food to eclectic shops.
No theatre trip would be complete without visiting the iconic Manchester Opera House. This 1,920-seater venue, a Grade II listed building, is a cultural gem in the city’s heart. It’s no wonder the Opera House is one of Manchester’s main artistic hubs, hosting an array of touring musicals, concerts, and seasonal pantomimes.
Now, let’s talk about the musical itself! “I Should Be So Lucky” was an absolute delight. From start to finish, we were treated to an evening packed with hilarious moments, cheesy hits, and catchy tunes from the legendary Stock Aitken and Waterman. There were times when the entire audience was on their feet, dancing and singing along—it truly was a night filled with joy and nostalgia!
We booked our weekend package for £329 per person, which included two nights of bed and breakfast and show tickets. Given the quality of the hotel, the entertainment, and the overall experience, I can confidently say that it was worth every penny.
I highly recommend watching Sport Trek’s theatre breaks if you’re considering a weekend getaway with a theatrical twist. With fantastic accommodations, a vibrant city to explore, and a wealth of entertainment options, it’s an experience you won’t soon forget!
